Experience:
I have over 17 years of experience at all 3 levels of the NAHB Federation, serving in Senior Officer positions, Associate Vice President positions and Committee Chair positions. I served in leadership at my State and Local during this recent economic crisis and have made the hard decisions about cutting services and employees. At NAHB, I currently serve as National Director, Chairman of Associate Members Committee, a member of the Federal Government Affairs Committee and BUILD-PAC Trustee. I have also served as the first Associate Officer of BUILD-PAC and the first Associate appointed to the NAHB Budget Committee.
Dedication:
I have not missed an NAHB Board or Associate Members Committee meeting since I became an Associate NAHB Director in 2006. In addition, I became a Gold Key BUILD-PAC Club member in 2007 and, even in tough economic times, have maintained that commitment to NAHB's advocacy efforts. In addition, I am not dependent on financing from an employer, local or state for costs incurred for travel and lodging. I attend because I want to be here. I pay because it is important to be here.
Understanding:
I am actively engaged in the industry and the Association. I am a business owner and have belonged to 3 NAHB Councils. My business is directly affected if this country is not building. As a building material supplier I know first hand what lack of financing and regulations are doing to our Builder members. I attend NAHB Conferences, Capitol Hill visits, and education. I subscribe to and read all NAHB publications. The overriding theme continues to be that builders and NAHB are working on legislation and regulations that get in the way of a strong building economy. We have a large and diverse membership that must unite in advocacy efforts.
Vision:
We need two things for NAHB to survive - building and members. Our Advocacy efforts WILL get this country building again and will allow members to prosper. And, when our Builder members are building, our local membership numbers flourish. We must make sure NAHB provides the advocacy, outreach and educational efforts to provide a strong building economy for our members.

- I will work to improve the communication between NAHB and our members. We need to bridge the disconnect between our locals and NAHB. It pains me every time I hear someone say they don't know what benefit they receive from NAHB. I believe that NAHB needs to hear from members at the local level. And, we definitely need to make sure our members KNOW what NAHB is working on.
- Advocacy continues to be the number one priority on the national level. We need to make every member understand the role they play in our advocacy efforts. Associates can have a huge impact on the success of advocacy. I will work to increase education and participation in BuilderLink, In-District meetings, and BUILD-PAC. I will also spread the word of Associate success stories in advocacy.
- This last year saw an unsettling vote for Associates on the Board floor regarding an Associate Senior Officer position. Associates have some hurdles in achieving that position based on misconceptions of our dedication and purpose. I have worked my way up the leadership ladder with an honest dedication to the industry that could never be interpreted as anything else. I will continue to conduct myself in that manner and truly hope we can create an image at NAHB that is proof of Associates members' dedication to the industry and NAHB.
